"The lost treasures of algorithmica" is a work in (slow) progress.
It describes the treasures that can be found in a distant world where algorithms still are an important part of computing, a world that has not been conquered and exploited by Big Industry, a world in which programming still is fun.
Just to make sure that this textbook will be totally useless to Big Companies, it teaches programming by means of an obscure, minimalistic dialect of Scheme. The fundamental principles covered in this textbook, however, are tools that every self-respecting programmer should know.
You can have a look at the (preliminary) table of contents if you feel like it.
There will be lots of code, lots of diagrams, and lots of terse, informative, and hopefully entertaining prose. The book will have more than 300 pages in workbook format (8.5"x11"). Further information will appear on these pages from time to time.
Your address will not be sold to spammers, but if you do not trust me, just check back every now and then. The book will be announced right here.
